93: Stitching Fire...

When Master Somitsu was sewing, Master Tozan asked: What are you doing?

Master Somitsu said: I am sewing.

Master Tozan said: How is your sewing?

Master Somitsu said: In sewing, almost every stitch is the same.

Master Tozan said: Even though we have been traveling together for twenty years, is this all you can say? Doesn’t anything else come into it?

Master Somitsu said: What do you think, Acarya?

Master Tozan said: The whole earth seems to burst into flames.

I'd be lying if I said the humdrum of daily life wasn't pretty predictable and boring at times... Even that's the whole world bursting into flames.

It seems very true that the one stitch is not cut off from all the others... but what makes the previous ones, and the future ones, 'the same'?

This stitch can burn through the world.

Regards,

Harry.
